This project emphasized the relationship between a shape, a letter, and the counters they develop with each other. Shifting the letter one way or another, even just by a few pixels, can change the entire look and feel of the icon.
Garamond Postcard
Objective: create a post card based upon a typeface pulled from a hat. I found that Garamond was developed in France for a King. Using the King’s coat of arms as inspiration, I developed a shield mounted to a brick wall with a fleur-de-lis blooming from various characters within the typeface. The reverse is an ode to history, including the block letters.
